I've prepared an art activity where children can create their own "social battery." Through this, they get to visually express how they're feeling or how much energy they have. It helps them recognize and say things like, “I feel tired right now,” or “I’m worn out from being around people too long.” While thinking and talking about how to recharge when their energy runs low, they also get to practice finding their own ways to feel better.

You'll need the template, scissors, markers, and glue.

In the circle on the template, children can either draw their own face or paste a photo of themselves.

After coloring the template, cut along the outer lines with scissors.

Wrap the strip part of the template around the child’s face (drawing or photo) and gently secure it with glue or tape.

Even children who find it hard to express their feelings with words can use the social battery to let others know how they’re doing—like saying, “Playing feels too hard right now,” or “I’ve got my energy back!” It really helps them feel more confident in sharing how they feel.
