In this kids’ art activity, we will make a sun cap using a disposable paper plate!

A helpful tip from DRAWINART: instead of plain white plates, try using plates in various colors for a more fun result 🙂

They are affordable and easy to find at large stationery stores.

Cut the plate into a crescent shape. As shown in the photo, trim only a small portion. If you cut too much, the sun cap may become weak and lose its shape.

For this kids’ art project, I decided to make a watermelon-shaped sun cap 🙂

I glued red colored paper in the center to create the watermelon flesh.

Cut out small pieces to make the watermelon seeds.

DRAWINART Kids’ Art Tip:

If cutting tiny paper pieces feels tricky, you can simply draw the seeds using a black marker.

Attach the watermelon seeds one by one, and a cute watermelon design will come to life 🙂

Use a hole punch to make holes on both ends of the sun cap. Be sure to leave enough space from the edges.

Next, tie an elastic band to both holes so the sun cap can be worn on the head. During kids’ art classes, adjust the elastic length to fit each child’s head size.
