This Christmas, DRAWINART has prepared a fun art activity so kids can create a beautiful pop-up card. This project is especially exciting because children can watch their finished Christmas tree pop up when the card opens. Materials needed are the printable template, colored cardstock, markers, glue, a craft knife, and scissors. Optional decorations such as stickers or glitter glue can also be used. Complete the artwork by drawing and coloring the Christmas tree on the template. Children can decorate freely using glitter glue or stickers to make their tree extra special.
Carefully cut out the Christmas tree along the outer lines using scissors.
Fold the bottom flaps of the tree upward.
Fold the paper along the dotted lines inside the tree. Be sure to check the folding direction carefully by referring to the example photo.
When folded correctly, the tree should form this pop-up shape.
Cut out the gift box template and fold the gift box in half.
Attach the Christmas tree and the gift box onto the colored cardstock. If you’re unsure how to attach the tree, please refer to the DRAWINART YouTube video for guidance.
Use a craft knife to make a small slit next to the gift box, then insert the attached strip into the slit. This allows the gift box to open and close.
Write a message inside the gift box to share a warm Christmas wish.
